Once you inspect your furniture and see what you need to do to fix the problem, then you will know the proper tools that will be needed to do the job.
Once you get the right tools out for the job then you need to decide what would be the easiest way to fix your furniture. If you have a chair that has a wobbly leg then you would need glue, sandpaper and a clamp. You would sand the end of the loose leg where it connects to the chair seat to remove any wood splinters that have come loose. Making sure that it is smooth for easy attachment. Clean out the area on the seat where the leg attaches. Making sure there is no glue or wood stuck inside. Then take the chair leg and on the end that attaches to the seat put a generous amount of wood glue. Once the leg is in place connecting to the seat then put your furniture clamp on it to hold it in place until it dries. It is best to let it set up over night or longer before removing the clamp.
Some furniture will need more tools and take more time to fix. It all depends on how big the repair job will be and what is wrong with the furniture. If you are just repairing scratches on the surface of a table. You should first try and see if polishing will remove the scratches. Sometimes this will work for light scratches. Always try the simple ways to repair furniture before you get in to doing it a different way that can be more time consuming and more difficult. If polishing does not work try using a matching stain to conceal the scratches. You can also sand the area down and re stain the entire area if you choose. Sometimes for deep scratches you will need to use wood filler then sand it down and re varnish the entire area. Every piece of furniture will be different to fix. Just having a few simple tools around can help in repairing a lot of jobs with your furniture. Doing the proper upkeep on your furniture can make your furniture look like it did when you first bought it.
